It
is a compulsory insurance covering you against "civil
claims", in legal terms.
In other words: the insurer will pay the expenses caused to other people in a car accident for which you are responsible. A CL on vehicle can cover physical damage (death or injuries) or property damage (deterioration or destruction of property).
However, it will not refund the damage done to your car, even if it was driven by someone else. It will not cover your injuries if you were driving and if you are guilty. |
|
The law says that your CL must cover your injuries if you were passenger of your car and if the driver is guilty. If he is not, the CL of the responsible vehicle will pay. It is the same for your passengers, including your relatives: they are covered by your CL if you (or the driver you lent your car to) are guilty or by the CL of the responsible vehicle if you are not. |
|
It
is the only compulsory insurance when you buy a vehicle.
It protects you against claims for traffic related accidents caused by you, the person driving your vehicle at the time of the accident or by your vehicle itself (causal civil liability).
